We would like to welcome you to our practice and assure you that our intention is to offer you a caring and courteous service at all times. Our aim is to keep your pets healthy and content for a long time to come

Here is what we provide

We offer consultations by appointment Monday to Friday 9-11am, 2-3.30pm and 4-6pm and Saturday mornings 9-11.

In the evenings after 6pm and at weekends our emergency service provider i sV.E.T.S. located at Ystrad Mynach. Just ring our surgery and your call, after hours, is directed there.

Our services include a wide range of procedures such as vaccinations,de-worming, microchipping, neutering, advice on diet and weight control, dental care, radiography, ultrasound examination, laboratory testing and a comprehensive range of surgical procedures using the most up-to-date anaesthetic protocols.

Our reception staff are all experienced ranging from 3 to 17 years of continuous service with us and will all be happy to answer any of your questions.

Fees

All our professional fees and charges for drugs and consumables are inclusive of VAT

Our consultation fee is £29.50. There is an additional charge for any treatment provided at the time of consultation. This charge will vary depending on the treatment which is required.

Surgical and non-surgical procedures are charged according to the amount of time spent on each case.

Prices for routine procedures such as spays, neuters and vaccinations can be found elsewhere on this site or by phoning reception for a quotation.

Non routine procedure fees are discussed at the time of consultation. An estimate of cost will be given but please be aware this can only be approximate.

Out-of-hours fees are set by the emergency service provider.

Methods of payment

Bills are expected to be paid at the time of consultation or treatment. A deposit may be required for surgical procedures. We accept cash and all major dredit cards. We do not accept cheques.Itemised receipts are provided

Please note that overdue accounts will incur further costs to cover administration fees and we reserve the right to withdraw our veterinary services to clients with unpaid accounts.

Following your consultation Prescription Only Medications may be prescribed for your pet. These will be available to purchase here or, if you wish, you could request a written prescription in order to obtain these medicines from a pharmacy. Our current charge for a written prescription is £15.75 for the first item and £8.50 for additional items.

Pets on medication will need to be checked periodically to ensure their continued health and welfare.

Second opinions/referrals

We are happy to accept clients of other practices who are seeking a second opinion. We would always contact the original practice to obtain their consent and relevant records before we arrange an appointment. Our consultation fee for a second opinion is slightly higher to reflect the additional work and costs involved in getting and processing the information.

Additionally if we are treating your pet and you wish a second opinion from another practice we are happy to comply with this and would forward our case notes and copies of any radiographs or blood test results to the practice of your choice.

There may be occasions when we would advise refering your pet to a specialist referral centre after discussion with you, in order for your pet to recieve the best possible care and attention. We liase with a number of specialist centres and would forward the relevant information allowing continuity of care.

Ownership of records.

Your pet's case records, laboratory test results and radiographs remain the property of Robin Lewis and Associates Ltd, however, as explained above we will willingly forward a copy of any relevant information, with your permission, to another veterinary clinic/referral centre.

Day care and In-patients

If your pet needs investigative procedures, a surgical procedure or intensive care treatment we will admit him or her for the day or part of the day. If care needs to be given overnight your pet will be transfered by ambulance to our emegency care provider at V.E.T.S Ystrad Mynach where it will receive regular monitoring and treatment by the emergency team and returned the following day or when deemed fit to return

Complaints Procedure.

We are committed to offering you a high standard of service at all times, however, there may be an occasion that your expectations are not met. If you are unhappy with any aspect of your pet's treatment, in the first instance, ring us and let us know. The practice manager will deal promptly with your complaint. If you are still unhappy and feel that the problem has not been resolved we would ask you to put your complaint in writing outlining the nature of the complaint. The matter will then be investigated by the senior vets and practice manager. We will respond within 7 working days and contact you in writing. If you remain dissatisfied you can further contact us and give us feedback. We will further review the situation. In case of an unresolved complaint you may decide to refer the matter to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Data Protection.

Robin Lewis & Associates keep your personal details (Name, address and contact numbers) in our computerised record system. These details are used solely to provide our veterinary services to you and your pet.
