Vaccine amnesty this March and April. Full vaccination for the price of a booster. Ring the surgery for details 01443 430944.

We are all delighted to have been given a nomination for the Pet Plan Practice of the Year award.

Well done everyone and many thanks to our supportive and appreciative clients.

March began with the arrival of Snowmageddon. Many thanks to all our staff who kept the surgery up and running during this challenging time - we had a busy few days!

Disease Warning!

A case of Alabama Foot Rot was reported in Penrhiwfer, Rhondda in late January 2018.

This disease is a rare but extremely serious disease of dogs. The cause has not yet been discovered but most affected dogs have a history of access to damp, muddy, often forested areas. There is no vaccine available and no specific treatment. The disease starts as sores or ulcers on the feet and in many cases progresses rapidly to kidney failure. It is often fatal.

Our best advice at present is to avoid walking your dog in damp muddy areas and to wash and clean your pet thoroughly should he or she become muddied during exercise. If you notice any sores or ulcers on your dog's feet please arrange an appointment with us so that, hopefully, we can rule out this disease.

Please note this is a very rare disease but do be aware of it.

A fresh look for 2016

During the Summer of 2016 we had a major make-over of the clinic with new vinyl flooring and redecoration throughout. We are very pleased with our new look and hope you like it too.

Thinking of taking your pet abroad this year? No problem. Just a few formalities and you are good to go.

First, your pet will need a microchip (remember, it is now a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped in the UK).

Second, a rabies vaccination. Just a single injection and it lasts for 3 years.

Third, a Pet Passport. A simple procedure which we can do here at the surgery. In fact all 3 steps can be done in one visit.

Finally, before returning home from your trip abroad your pet will need to be wormed - see below for details.

Major Imrovement to Client Parking at the Surgery

Please note it is now permitted to park in Station Street (spaces permitting) for up to one hour. This is plently of time to see one of our vets for a consultation or to drop off your pet for an op or pick him/her up afterwards. Parking is also available in Hughes Street just off Station Street.

 - If your puppy is vaccinated with us this you will be given an information pack with a free puppy food sample, a measuring cup and a feeding bowl (while stocks last) All pups and kittens have a free health check and weight check at time of vaccination - give your pet the best start in life!
